As new security practices are implemented due to the spike in remote work caused by COVID-19, data and information are more critical than ever, especially related to cybersecurity performance. Enterprises must ask, what does and does not work? How and where can improvements be made? What actions are peer organizations taking? To examine these questions, ISACA® created the State of Cybersecurity 2020, Part 2: Threat Landscape and Security Practices report, which contains the results of the annual ISACA global State of Cybersecurity Survey conducted in the 4th quarter of 2019. Part 2 of the survey report focuses on the threat landscape and key trends in the practice of security.

This data confirms ongoing trends from past years and examines data from new survey questions about key areas such as the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled security tools. Some survey findings, such as the continued increase of cyberattacks, are less surprising, although still important to track and monitor. Other findings, including performance impacts resulting from organizational structure or hiring difficulties, provide new insights.
